Build Green Maine - The Future of Construction in Maine | A Program of Midcoast Magnet and The Newforest Institute

Build Green Maine is the result of a partnership between the Midcoast Magnet and the Newforest Institute. It was launched with the intention of connecting practitioners in the various areas of green building and renewable energy with each other and with homeowners and other stakeholders in Maine’s communities: governments, non-profit, financial and educational institutions. We seek to coordinate with and support those organizations who work toward the common goal of a sustainable and healthy built environment.

We recognize that high performance buildings are a significant key to Maine’s future economy; they offer tremendous opportunity to develop new trades, businesses and lifestyles, while at the same time contributing toward a more stable and productive landscape. Building the sustainable hardscape of tomorrow is a creative undertaking, one that will have many innovative and beautiful consequences.

What We Do

Through continuing education, professional and community conferences, workshops and events, Build Green Maine disseminates the technical knowledge, transformational perspectives and the success stories of sustainability in Maine’s built environment.

Through our website we intend to provide individuals and homeowners with a one-stop portal into the extensive and diverse professional resources to help them to re-envision their home, and to build/retrofit it into a high-performance habitat. Through our website we aim to ensure that every community has the collection of building performance practioners it needs to service it.

For professionals, Build Green Maine’s Green Guild will provide ongoing training and institutional resources to help them thrive out in the field. The Guild will facilitate the identification of real needs and facilitate solutions for and by expert peers.
