An integral part of the Build Green Maine program is the Green Builders' Guild. The Green Builders' Guild is a member-based organization of businesses and people involved (or aiming to get involved) in the green building industry. The Green Builders' Guild, aims to become the largest and most comprehensive green building directory in the state. The Guild's members are those who affect the built environment from architecture to insulation and from developers to retailers.
The Green Builders' Guild supports and serves its members by providing the public with an on-line directory of Guild members, including a brief synopsis about the services that each Guild member offers, their contact information, and web address. Guild members also benefit from community forums sponsored by Build Green Maine. In addition to educating the public about the benefits of sustainable building, the forums provide Guild Members with an opportunity to expand their clientele in the community, to network among fellows, and to support their industry through mutual assistance and collective action. With more public demand for sustainable building practices, members of the Green Builders' Guild will benefit professionally, and will aid in the transformation of the building market into a more environmentally friendly, higher-performance model.
